  • Back in 1999, the Post Office issued five stamps to commemorate the great Streamliners. I'm not sure who came up with the idea, but we did special "covers" for these. We designed our own postmark good for one day only, which then we got approved by the PO. On that day, we pasted each of the five stamps on our own envelopes (made just for this purpose), showing our model scene of Troy with a streamline New York Central Hudson in it. (There is a Bill Middleton photo of such a type of loco in Troy at one point, so we know these locos were seen in Troy.) Then we stamped the postmark. (Guess if you are a stamp collector, you would appreciate this more.)
