  • In '13, an RPO-baggage version, the BM62, of the P54 coach was introduced.
Con-Cor has a model of this specific class of cars.

  • According to the review of the AHM/Rivarossi "smooth-side" RPO in the Sept. '66 MR, the prototype of this model was originally a Pennsylvania 1910 car, which was modernized. Apparently the roof was changed from a clerestory to a monitor-type. The review said the roof was interchangeable with the one on their coach kit, although the "glass" would have to be modified. Also to backdate the car, MR suggested the roller-bearing four-wheel trucks be changed for 6-wheel types, the doors should be replaced with older-style ones, and the windows made deeper and given a crosspiece 9 inches from the top.
    This car is 74 feet long. It is a full RPO, 60 feet long, with a 10-foot baggage section (more of a closet than a room). A photo of this car appeared in the 1953 Cyc. I understand that while the PRR modernized a few of their RPO cars with arch roofs, most retained their clerestory roofs, so for you Pennsy fans, just switching the roof would give variety. (And for other roads, changing roofs and/or shortening the car by 10 feet by cutting away at the side of the baggage door makes a big visual difference.)

  • In the October '88 Model Railroading, there were plans for a "USRA" 60-foot full RPO, along with photos or class diagrams for PM, Burlington, and Great Northern. (There is no evidence there actually was a USRA passenger anything.) The plans showed one side with two sets of three windows and the other with two windows next to the door on the left and four windows on the right.

  • In 1917, ACF built five 60-foot full RPO (which might be what was being considered a USRA design, but if so, this was a year before the formation of the USRA itsef).
